MSV Racing Powersports honors Michael Faraday’s profound work in the electromagnetic field by giving our line of MSV Racing High Power Adjustable Stator his namesake.
Who Was Michael Faraday?
Michael Faraday (1791-1865) was born in England. Michael Faraday was a genius who could be placed into the same category as Beethoven, Michelangelo, and Galileo. British-New Zealand Physicist Ernest Rutherford stated, “When we consider the magnitude and extent of his discoveries and their influence on the progress of science and of industry, there is no honor too great to pay to the memory of Faraday, one of the greatest scientific discoverers of all time.”
Why Do We Care About Him?
Everyone who rides or drives a powersports vehicle, or any combustion engine vehicle for that matter, has a lot to thank Faraday for. We know your vehicle has an Ignition Coil (Electromagnetic Induction was discovered in 1831.) Many of these vehicles have an electric starter and most two-stroke vehicles run an AC stator, both are using Electromagnetic Rotation, which was discovered in 1821.
Although Michael Faraday received very little formal education, he was one of the most influential scientists in history, and it was by his research on the magnetic field around a conductor carrying a direct current (Electromagnetic Induction) that Michael Faraday established the basis for the concept of the electromagnetic field in physics. His inventions of electromagnetic rotary devices (Electromagnetic Rotation) formed the foundation of electric motor technology which we see at every turn in modern life. It was his herculean efforts that brought electricity to the technology forefront.
So the next time you hit the start button or kick your bike, ATV, or scooter over and hear it fire off, remember one man Michael Faraday brought you these fantastic technologies even before the effective combustion engine was developed! (and check out our Adjustable Stator named after this heavyweight influencer!)
